While most bloggers dedicate their first posts to introducing themselves to the blogoshere, I have decided to go a different route. Since I am skipping the introduction so I can delve into more important things, you can find the most awesome and interesting details about me on my profile page. As I spend more time blogging, I will continue to update my profile so check later for more trivialities!
So, why blogging and why now? I have to say blogging is not foreign to me. After talking with a teaching colleague about incorporating innovative tools into our 21st Century classrooms, we decided to create wikis and blogs for classroom use. Our students loved fusing trendy technology with daily school work. After school let out for the summer 2 years ago, in an attempt to relieve boredom on extremely hot days, I discovered the world of makeup blogging. Ever since that summer, I have been sucked into reading blogs daily. Over the last few years, while reading some of my favorite blogs, I have wondered, "Could I write a personal blog? What would I write about? Who would be my audience?"
I used to LOVE writing fictional stories as a child, but through years of boring lessons on grammar and research paper writing in high school and college, my passion for writing faded. The blog world has inspired me to write again, just in a different way. Mirroring my childhood, but now as an adult, I am writing because I want to, about things I want to write about. Now that I am not teaching anymore, despite working full time and going to school part time, I have decided to devote some of my spare time to something I used to love so much.
Hopefully, through blogging, I can reflect on my life as it is now and learn to appreciate all the world has to offer. It is my pleasure to introduce to you "Carolina Night Owl," a blog about writing, living life, and finding ways to love it, as is.
